Fire Chief's Message

The Jacksonville Fire Department welcomes you to our New Web site. We welcome your interest and encourage you to contact the Dept. should you have any question. Please return to our site periodically   as it is currently under construction and we’ll be undergoing updates and changes.

It has been my pleasure to serve as the Jacksonville Fire Departments Chief officer for the last several years. In that time frame a lot has been accomplished, this is directly attributed to the members of this department. Without their dedication, work ethics and support of our mission we would not be where we are at today. As the Department moves forward we also have the responsibility to evaluate how we are meeting the needs of our community in a safe, effective and efficient manner.

The first regularly organized fire company was formed in Jacksonville in 1840; Action of the City Council in 1867 formed a regularly paid department to provide fire protection to the citizens and to enforce established fire Codes. The Jacksonville Fire Department is organized under Chapter 11, Article 1 of the City of Jacksonville Municipal Code.

It shall be the Mission of the Jacksonville Fire Department to provide the highest level of protection of life and property in situations relating to fire, medical emergencies, Hazardous materials incidents, natural disaster and other incidents which pose a danger to the citizens of Jacksonville.

As Fire Chief, I have the privilege to serve this great community and work alongside the highly trained and professional Men and Women who serve as Jacksonville Firefighters delivering an all hazards response to approximately 3,000 calls for service annually.
